Horsecarts such as the one pictured above are the most common means of transport for the tribal villagers that live in the area around Bac Ha.  Every Sunday, at the Bac Ha Market, a lively horse trading market takes place.

Flower Hmong women bargaining for gabrics and clothing at the Bac Ha Market.  The Market sees many different tribes but the Flower Hmong are the most prevelant.

Hemp rope drying in front of a Hmong house.  Hemp is a vital crop for the tribal villagers in the Sapa area.

After sharing tea with a local Black Hmong family, it is customary to smoke tobacco out of a bamboo water pipe.  It is very strong Tabacco but to refuse would be impolite.

Our friend Mostyn bargaining for traditional Hmong and Dzao textiles.  The tribal women always appear at the hotel entrances waiting to  sell their wares to travelers.
